Ethos
Mission:
We are dedicated to bringing the highest level of expertise to support and
improve life chances for people with autism.
Vision:
All people with autism will receive the most appropriate support to enable them
to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.
Values:
We value the individuality of our children and young people and
treat them with respect and dignity.
We believe that our approach (the Prior Approach) offers the most
successful pathway to achieving the highest level of independence
and a fulfilling life for our young people.
We have high expectations of our young people and all who work
with them.
We value, encourage and celebrate their achievements.
We have a person-centred approach where we are able to learn
from each other and where every person matters.
We believe in the importance of the partnership with parents and
families as the strongest basis for success for all involved.
We seek opportunities to encourage understanding and greater
integration for our young people in the wider community.
A whole-school specialist approach:
There is a whole-school approach which underpins every aspect of supporting the
young people's educational needs as well as the social and independent skills
needed to develop to live a more fulfilling and independent life. Applied across all
settings with consistency, it provides a toolkit of skills which enables young
people severely challenged by their autism to make sense of the world around
them and will support them throughout their life. Our young people respond
extremely well to this approach through their Waking Day and we believe it
offers the most successful route to greater independence and achieving their
highest potential.
