Freedom to move
Connectivity, new employment,
technology, infrastructure, affordability,
lifestyle changes, urbanisation and
large-scale regeneration continue to
contribute to the array of choices for
home movers. But, for footloose buyers
and renters, who may have become less
restricted by the daily commute,
opportunities have emerged in places
never previously contemplated.
Foxtons reach and technology has
supported these new discoveries and
facilitated movement across London. We
actively encourage information sharing
across our branches, connecting
applicants with homes, regardless of
where they began their search. Even
applicants who come to us with a clear
vision of where they want to live, often
find what they're looking for in quite
different parts of London.
MOVING
LONDON
4 The London Report 2022 | Moving London MIGRATION
ACROSS THE
CAPITAL
Londoners continue to be extraordinarily mobile.
Two years ago, we found that more than a third
of Foxtons movers bought or rented a home in a
different part of London to where they initially
registered interest. Two years and one pandemic
later, that figure has not changed. In fact, the last
two years have presented Londoners with even
greater potential to try new places.
This analysis highlights the many different flows
of Londoners around the capital. We analysed
where the property search started and the final
destination of Foxtons buyers and renters who
moved between different areas of London in 2021.
