MCA gains Lead School Status in Computing
Termly training sessions offered to primary staff
Mill Chase Academy's Computing Department has been
acknowledged as an excellent provider in its field with the
award of Lead School Status in Computing. The Lead School
Scheme is supported by several high profile organisations
including the Chartered Institute for IT, Microsoft,
Google, Ensoft and CPHC, and is designed to recognise
excellent practice.
The new Computing Curriculum now emphasises how
computer systems work, for example learning to code, rather
than just learning how to use a computer. Mill Chase
Academy took an early lead in implementing these changes
and has been teaching Computing for the past three years in
Years 10 and 11.
MCA offers its expertise to other schools to help them
develop their Computing provision and currently runs training
sessions every term with Primary School staff. University of
Chichester Academy Trust staff members are welcome to

Frogmore Junior School is fortunate to have extensive grounds
and exciting outdoor play equipment for the children to enjoy
but, as we all know, the weather isn't always kind. So the extra
funding now provided by the Sports Premium - money from
the government specifically for improving the provision of
sport and PE - is a chance to make sport exciting in some
innovative ways.
Headteacher Sarah Thorpe said: 'We are offering new and
different extra-curricular options such tag rugby and a multisports
club that includes indoor activities such as circuit
training. We have also been able to provide additional training
for our staff in teaching sports such as gymnastics and
coaching staff have worked alongside staff in different year
groups to support different aspects of the PE curriculum.'
The University of Chichester Academy Trust is currently
working with the University's Institute of Sport to develop
additional support for our academies.
