Academy update
News from across our Multi-Academy Trust
Summer term 2015
When the University of Chichester established our
Academy Trust in 2012 it purposefully set out to bring
together a diverse family of schools that would each
contribute something distinctive to the group whilst gaining
from a new relationship with the University.
Already we include nursery, primary, junior and secondary
phase schools and educate children with a span of needs
from two to 16 years. Our academies are in city, suburban
and village settings across three local authority areas. They
range from brand-new and not-so-new to the oldest state
school in Portsmouth.
With different local challenges and varied levels of past
performance, some of our academies need more support in
school improvement than others. Working together as a
supportive learning community alongside experts at the
University's Institute of Education we can meet the needs of
our academies in ways that also contribute to staff
professional development and inform education research.
It is interesting to reflect that the Latin origins of the word
"University" (when "universitas" meant "whole" and also
"community") embody the way we work together with our
academies with a clear common vision - that all young
people will enjoy an inspiring education that equips them to
have fulfilling lives.
On behalf of the Academy Trust I wish you and your families
a very happy summer break that manages to be both fun
and restful.
