Outside the classroom
Different environments for learning
Our academies make great use of outdoor spaces - at school
and further afield, in and out of school hours - to provide a
whole host of different learning experiences and challenges
for everyone.
Fernhurst Primary School is one of our Forest Schools and is
lucky enough to have access to several acres of local
woodland where they have built a fire pit and particularly
enjoy hot chocolate after exciting activities that support all
aspects of their curriculum.
At Frogmore Junior School, pupils have been hard at work
digging, planting and weeding at their Monday afternoon
gardening club and can be rightly proud of their beautiful
garden.
In the meantime, what better than a visit to the beach to
inspire creative writing? Flying Bull Academy pupils produced
some wonderful accounts of their day.
'We started at the beach
which smelled like salty air.
The sand was soft, dry and rough
but the stones were smooth like dogs' hair.
Boats were sailing and the
sails were clapping and wailing.
It looked like the sea was swaying.'
