Experience the finest traditions at sea while marvelling at
the captivating natural wonders of the Alaskan coastline.
Become a gold rush prospector, sled with huskies, look out
for whales breaking the surface, tour the totem pole village
and witness majestic glaciers calving into the water. Take
home memories of snow-covered peaks, sparkling glaciers
spilling into the sea, salmon filled rivers, wild bear and
moose foraging on the hillsides and the shrill call of eagles
soaring high above.
SKAGWAY is gateway to the Klondike and one-time
boomtown of the gold rush era of 1898. This town enjoys
the reservation status within a national park with its rustic
boardwalk and frontier style storefronts and saloons.
Another highlight of Skagway is the heavily promoted white
railway pass that was built for the Gold Rush, it travels
through outstanding scenery that follows the journey of the
early settlers in their search for wealth and fortune.
KETCHIKAN is known as the Salmon capital of
the world where - a quaint village, which is three miles
long and just three blocks wide, is wedged between the
water and the forested slopes of Deer Mountain. The native
American village is partly propped up on wooden pilings
and the Totem Heritage centre houses more totem poles
than anywhere else in the world. Perhaps or take a tour of
the surrounding area with a very good chance of spotting
majestic bald eagles that soar effortless over the inlet in
their search for salmon.
SITKA is situated on Baranof Island - in Alaska's Inside
Passage and located at the heart of the world's largest
temperate forest - The Tongass National Forest covering
most of Southeast Alaska and surrounding the famous
Inside Passage. It offers the chance to view eagles, bears,
spawning salmon, and the breath-taking vistas of "wild"
Alaska. You can take a sled-dog ride on a glacier, hike
boardwalk trails, fish in streams or the ocean. Sitka has a
unique blend of Tlingit culture and Russian heritage and is
surrounded by island studded waters, jagged mountains and
a towering volcano.
