Venture into the Arctic Circle next summer for a holiday with a difference to the land of the midnight sun, glaciers,
geysers, fjords, and majestic landscapes as far as the eye can see.
Cut down on the flying (or cut it out altogether) and stay close to home to explore the Emerald Isle, Iceland, and the
Norwegian Fjords. Or perhaps fly to Iceland to venture even further into the Arctic Circle to Greenland and the furthest
point north in Europe to the Norwegian island of Svalbad.
The west coast of Norway is home to the Fjords a where Geiranger Fjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - it is nine
miles long and is the most photographed of fjord of them all. This fjord is surrounded by the steepest mountains on
the entire west coast, it is very narrow and has foaming waterfalls (Seven Sisters and Suitor) which plunge into the fjord
from jagged peaks. A fjord is formed when a glacier cuts a U-shaped valley in the surrounding bedrock - as result most
fjords are actually deeper than the sea they flow into; in fact - Sognefjord in Norway reaches as much as 1,300metres
(4,265 ft) below sea level.
This combination of the Norwegian Fjords and Iceland gives you a multiple holiday experience in one holiday. There are
three ports of call in Iceland including an overnight stop and or a hotel stay in Reykjavik (Iceland) handy for visiting the
world-famous Blue Lagoon, the chance to view the Northern Lights and to sample the fabulous nightlife of Reykjavik.
