Spring 2014
NETWORK NEWS
The network's latest accreditations
are outlined below, with an
explanation of what this
endorsement means for the
business, and for our members:
Investors In People
Palletways has achieved the most
extensive IIP accreditation ever
granted to a pallet network.
The Investors in People (IIP)
accreditation is provided to
organisations which demonstrate
best practice in employee learning
and development, leadership skills
and continuous improvement.
It is designed to help transform
business performance through
people by tailoring its framework
around the achievement of key
business objectives.
Attaining this certiication
demonstrates the incredibly
high standards of employee
engagement across the panEuropean
network. Furthermore,
it relects that attracting, developing
and retaining talent is central to
Palletways' success.
FORS
Palletways has become the irst
pallet network to achieve a highproile
Transport for London
accreditation, which rubber stamps
best practice in the industry.
The Fleet Operator Recognition
Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary
certiication scheme aimed at
ensuring that leet operators
in London and throughout the
UK, work to high standards that
go beyond the minimum legal
requirements in areas such as health
& safety and environmental impact.
Following rigorous assessment,
Palletways met the accreditation's
bronze level requirements across
all its owned operation sites. As
part of its membership of FORS,
Palletways now has access to a
range of materials that will provide
the network with a competitive
advantage, including information
to further enhance its health &
safety provisions plus up-to-date
technology and guidance to
help reduce the impact of freight
transport on the UK environment.
Several members, including
Systematic, IEFS, Independent
Logistics and Axtra have also
gained this important accreditation
and others are working towards
achieving it."
ISO 14001
The national hub in Lichfield has
been awarded ISO 14001 status
following a rigorous assessment
of the site's environmental
management. This follows
significant investment in new
equipment and the appointment
of recycling specialists, Wilshee's
Skip Hire, who have enabled
us to recycle 100% of all waste
created at the Lichfield hub. This
is no mean feat, with over 100
tonnes of wood, paper, cardboard
and plastic produced on site
each month, and is part of our
ongoing work to demonstrate that
Palletways is devoted to being a
sustainable business. We aim to
gain the ISO 14001 accreditation
for each of our remaining UK
hubs by the end of 2014 as part
of our wider environmental
management strategy.
Introducing The
New Network Team
The key focus areas for the newly appointed
Network Team are to drive service improvements
and continuously enhance network service
disciplines. This will ensure Palletways strives
to exceed the expectations of its customers and
strengthen its market leading position, with quality
of service as the main diferentiator. Continuous
development and innovation in service are also
integral to increasing member satisfaction, which is
a key goal for 2014.
Palletways has implemented a more structured
approach for the Regional General Managers and
Member Support Managers to ensure it identiies
and addresses the service challenges. The new
managers will work closely with the Strategic
Member Development team to introduce quality
members, thereby improving the consistency of
member service performance across the UK.
