The social work awards are led by the Health and Social Care Board, and are
organised by the five Health and Social Care Trusts in conjunction with the
Northern Ireland Social Care Council and the British Association of Social Workers.
This year, the Southern Trust are hosting on our behalf in the beautiful Killeavy
Castle. It is has been particularly challenging to host the awards this year, and
there have been many difficulties getting the awards to the final stage but we are
delighted the event is going ahead.
On behalf of the HSCB we would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation
to the Southern Trust for all the work they have done in putting together such a
fantastic celebratory day for Social Work in Northern Ireland.
Due to Covid, the awards look very different. It is running at 60% down on the usual
numbers attending this event, with 100 attendees. Out of these 60 are Social
Workers receiving their awards.
The Social Work Awards is a celebration of the Social Work profession. This year's
theme "recognising the value of social work during the difficulties of the past 18
months" and profiles how the profession has continued to provide essential
services to vulnerable individuals, families and carers.
The HSCB is proud to support these awards each year and look forward to
continuing the tradition in years to come.
Congratulations to you all. Very well done!!
