• Spread the adhesive using a 1.5mm x
1.5mm or 1.6mm x 1.6mm "V" notched
trowel known as a "V1" size trowel.
• All pieces of Entrance Zone to be
installed in the same general area must
be of the same dye-lot indicated on the
label or delivery ticket.
• There is no pattern repeat for Pedigree
Entrance Zone Weave (random match) but
it is importnat to line up the linear pattern
lines for Pedigree Entrance Zone Grid, which
has an approximate pattern repeat of 29cm.
• Pre-determine if the first and/or last sheet
requires the safety side border left on and
glued down to prevent tripping if the edge
of the pile and backing is exposed to
oncoming foot traic. Otherwise (and for
all butt joining to other Entrance Zone
sheets) trim these side borders of the
non-fray edges for normal butt joining.
• All runs of the carpet in each general
area must be laid in the same direction
lengthwise. Entrance Zone is not light
sensitive and the "scraping efect" works
from any direction.
• Avoid seams in the middle of traic
lanes: seams on the left and right hand
sides of the traic lane are preferable to
a seam in the centre.
• To make installation easier, work from
inside the building towards the threshold
of the entrance door.
• Cut the Entrance Zone to size from the
back using a straight edge and lino knife.
• Allow the adhesive to slightly tack-up
before dropping in each sheet and
expelling any trapped air which will assist
adhesive transfer to the backing sheets.
• Expel all trapped air with a 35kg floor roller or
preferably using a floor spatula working from
the centre of each run towards the edges.
• WARNING: Pedigree Entrance Zone has a
totally impervious vinyl backing which
prevents air and moisture to disperse
through the pile. If in doubt, then the
rules applying to subfloor application
under AS 1884 - 2012 (or for New Zealand
NZS/AS1884 - 2013) apply whereby the
substrate must be suiciently absorbent
to allow the adhesive to disperse.
• When gluing Pedigree Entrance Zone to
stairs the use of stairnosings is
recommended. Cut separate pieces of
Entrance Zone for each step and riser. If
stairnosings are not used then score the
back of the piece of Entrance Zone where
it bends over the stair edge. Spread the
adhesive on to the backing of the Entrance
Zone as well as onto the stair surface. Allow
the Mega-Bond to completely tack-up
before closing and press well into place
applying pressure through a hand roller on
the step and on the riser area. You can only
glue Entrance Zone onto stairs once the
adhesive has become tacky (adhering in a
tack-up condition). A good quality contact
adhesive may be used as an alternative to
Karndean Mega-Bond, particularly if there
is any doubt on the bonding strength for
the risers, or even a combination of contact
adhesive (risers) and Mega-Bond (stair
treads) can be used.
• Heavy traic and wet cleaning for indoor
applications must be deferred for 24 hours
until the adhesive has completely cured.
