I am delighted to support the ninth year of the Leading in Safety, Quality & Experience Programme
available to all Trust Staff.
Demand for health and social care services is increasing year-on-year. Despite these pressures, we
have found that if we put a focus on continuous quality improvement we can deliver high-quality
care and improve services for our patients and service users.
When quality improvement (QI) is used well, it gives us confidence about the long-term
sustainability of quality of care. Our goal is clear - we want our staff to be empowered to unleash
their creativity and passion in order to continually improve our services. The process of reflecting,
testing, learning and improving will help us further develop our improvement culture within the
organisation and will also help staff to feel confident in their ability to drive quality improvement.
This programme provides a unique opportunity for staff within the South Eastern HSC Trust to lead
the improvement of safety and quality of care for patients and service users, which can be difficult to
actually put into practice without having the appropriate skills. This programme is designed to build
and develop skills and knowledge in continuous quality improvement and rapid cycle testing,
providing staff with the ability to make changes that would improve patient and client outcomes.
I would like to acknowledge all those who had the vision and foresight to develop and deliver this
programme and thank everyone whose dedication and commitment has made it possible.
Seamus McGoran
Interim Chief Executive
South Eastern HSC Trust
