Attend a minimum of two QI Clinics during the time period of the programme.
Participation in a team/individual person quality improvement project.
Present QI Project at judging and produce a poster for display at the final awards event.
Sharing and learning with managers and leaders at the final awards event.
Participants will be required to register with IHI Open School, completing identified modules in
preparation for each teaching day.
If you are unable to attend any of the programme dates participants must contact Nicola Gullen or
Julie Hall as 75% attendance is required.
Participants will decide on a specific topic area/improvement initiative in there are of responsibility
and discuss this with their manager prior to commencing the programme.
Each participant will be expected to undertake a quality improvement initiative within the
programme, which will enable them to directly apply the new knowledge and skills acquired in
practice as the programme progresses. We know that some projects may not have reached an
outcome stage by the time judging takes place for the final awards event but encourage all teams to
present at judging to show predicted outcomes.
All posters will be shared on the HSCNI website (https://qi.hscni.net/) . This is a great way to share
your QI work across the Region.
The programme will be evaluated with a pre-programme knowledge and skills evaluation by each
participants followed by a post-programme evaluation.
The SQE Programme has been mapped against the Supporting Leadership for Quality Improvement
and Safety (Q2020) Attributes Framework. Participants within the programme will gain knowledge
and skills at Level 2 - Delivering Improvement - Appendix 2.

Investing in quality and safety has the benefits of improving clinical outcomes and patients'
experience whilst also producing better value for money and releasing other resources. Due to the
increasing interest and requests for places from external staff the South Eastern HSC Trust would
