Building capacity and capability for innovation and improvement will bring huge benefits for
patients, service users and staff, as well as increased quality and value. The SQE Programme was
designed eight years ago to build and develop skills and knowledge in continuous quality
improvement and rapid cycle testing, providing participants with the ability to make changes that
would improve patient and client outcomes. The Trust has seen great benefits from this programme
through publications and awards.
The SQE Programme runs for nine months and is the first of its kind developed for multi-professional
staff across both Health and Social Care in the Trust. Participants work together to develop
innovative solutions to address common issues in relation to safety, quality of care and patient
experience.
This programme is based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Framework for Safe, Reliable
and Effective Care which presents a model for examining the safety and quality of service delivery
for patients and service users.
The programme has been designed to meet the needs of health and social care professionals
committed to leading continual quality improvement and is linked to the Q2020 Attributes
Framework for Health and Social Care which identifies the quality improvement and safety attributes
needed by staff to deliver and lead improvement.
