2014
£'000
2013
£'000
Contracted 19 223
Authorised but not contracted 6,856 8,284
Included in contracted capital commitments are amounts of £19k (2013, £98k) relating to assets in the course of construction.
11 CONTINGENT LIABILITIES AND ASSETS
The Society has given an indemnity to repay £5m related to a legacy bequest, should the estate be claimed against.
The Society is the legal tenant for 18 properties where the beneficial tenant is a RSPCA branch. In the event of the financial failure of the
beneficial tenant, the Society would be obliged to continue the tenancy. It is impractical to determine the potential net cost to the Society.
The Society recognises a contingent liability of £333k in respect of overtime during annual leave. The crystallisation of the liability will
depend on the Bear Scotland case appeal and is therefore contingent on its outcome.
12 TRUSTEESHIPS
The national RSPCA holds property title deeds and investments as custodian trustee for certain branches.
