At Prior's Court, we encourage the young people
we support to explore as many different cultures
as possible - often through arts and crafts.
Through this, young people can get creative while being
empowered to explore different religions and cultural events.
It also ensures a multicultural learning environment for both
staff and young people.
Recently, our young people have celebrated Chinese New Year
and Easter, getting creative in making some Chinese lanterns
and a beautiful dragon out of papier mâché.

Prior's Court has opened
the doors of our bakery to
deaf students from Mary
Hare School to support
their learning.
Our Bakery Learning Facilitator
Scott Thompson is running the
program, helping Mary Hare
School students make progress
toward their Level 1 and 2
Diplomas.
Scott said: "It's a pleasure having
students from Mary Hare School
in our bakery. We built this facility
with education in mind, so being
able to impart knowledge to
students beyond our gates is a
privilege.
Vicky Caws, an assessor for City &
Guilds within Mary Hare School, is
closely involved in the placement
program and believes their
students are learning skills they
can apply to numerous situations
in the outside world.
The successful programme has so
far seen four Mary Hare students
rotating through the industrial
baking facility over the past
two school years, with plans to
welcome a fifth.
Exploring culture through art
A number of corporate supporters have
dug deep to help autistic young people
with complex needs.
Charles Hunter Associates, Kärcher UK, Carney
Sweeney, Newbury Building Society, Sophos, and
others, have all partnered with Prior's Court in 2024
so far.
Whether that be through regular volunteering
on-site or taking on fundraising challenges, plenty
of these organisations' staff have got involved in
recent months. Brave volunteers from Kärcher UK
and Charles Hunter Associates have taken on a
running challenge and a white collar boxing match
respectively to raise money for our Performing Arts
Centre.
Evie Merry and James Gordon, both from Kärcher
UK, took on the Queen Elizabeth Park Half Marathon
and 10k events respectively, in March.
And later in March, in a first for Prior's Court, Zoe
Brown, from Charles Hunter Associates, took part in a
white collar boxing event.
