Hybrid working is intended to compliment current working patterns. An
individual may already have a flexible working agreement in place and still
be able to work in a hybrid way.
If you require a degree of flexibility that goes beyond what is described in
this hybrid working guidance (for example, you want to reduce or increase
the number of hours you are contracted to work) you can still make a
flexible working request, please speak to the HR department about the
Flexible Working Request Process.
Hybrid working (voluntary) does not replace or supersede the Flexible Work
(contractual) opportunities already in place at City of Glasgow College.
Hybrid working and flexible working can be differentiated as follows:
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
HYBRID & FLEXIBLE
WORKING
HYBRID
Informal change to location
of work and some occasions
working patterns. This is
voluntary - the default contractual
place of work is on campus. No
one is forced to work remotely.
Non-contractual
Does not impact salary
Fluid, adaptable, can be
changed over time
Agreed with line manager
at team level
FLEXIBLE
Formal request to change
working patterns or hours
of work.
Contractual change to T&C's
May impact salary
Rigid, permanent changes
with set parameters
Agreement must be
formalised by HR
