PALLETWAYS DELIVERS IN EUROPE
In recent years, Palletways has significantly invested in its European delivery service infrastructure,
which now boasts 12 hubs across 14 European countries, proving that a truly pan-European pallet
network can succeed.
This special four page report looks in detail at how the network has established itself as the premier
express palletised freight operation in Europe and the Group's plans for the future.
Building a stronger and bigger network
Palletways' pan-European network has come a long way
since its expansion into mainland Europe with the launch of
Palletways Italia in 2002. In the last year, the Group has seen
strong growth within, and between, its networks, with a number
of volume records being broken. Key to the Group's success is
ongoing investment which continues to enhance operational
efficiencies and take customer service to new levels.
Key recent developments include:
Geographical footprint expansion:
In 2014, Palletways extended its geographical
coverage by offering a full range of services to and
from Austria. These new territories bring Palletways'
coverage to a total of 14 countries, opening up new
opportunities for customers and members.
New European customer service operation:
The Group has established a centralised customer
service in Madrid manned by a multi lingual team,
representing the different countries served by the
network. This helps speed up customer response
and resolution times.
Increased line haul frequency:
In order to take advantage of growing demand for
cross border distribution across Europe, the Group
increased the frequency of its linehauls, introducing
daily services linking London & Nijmegen, London
& Paris, Paris & Madrid and a direct service between
Italy & France.
New UK-Europe gateway:
London has been established as Palletways new
UK international gateway to speed up traffic to and
from Europe.
New pallet formats:
Palletways has introduced a new European mini
quarter pallet and is planning to unveil a Euro light
pallet in the near future.
First fulfilment centre in Europe:
The Group invested in a new 52,400 sq ft depot
in Nijmegen to support growth in demand for
pan-European delivery services. It provides
Palletways' first fulfilment centre outside the UK,
offering customers a full range of warehousing and
distribution services as well as increased order lead
times for deliveries throughout Europe.
Investment in domestic networks:
Palletways has recently introduced its award
winning and world's first 'archway' hub scanning
system into Spain. The innovative technology,
which comprises scanners and high definition
cameras, is already being successfully used at
Palletways UK hub in Lichfield. Located at the
entrance of the hub, the £3/4m system scans and
photographs every vehicle and each individual
pallet. It is designed to eliminate security issues
and the possibility of false claims for loss or damage
of goods. 2013 also saw the launch a new hub in
Milan; this regional hub allows Palletways to offer
improved services to and from the vital northern
Italian industrial zones.
