Rachael Alpha, Managing Director at Palletways Europe GmbH,
which is responsible for Palletways international operations, talks
to Network News about the exciting potential for the Group's
pan-European business.
"Last year was a very exciting year for the Group and continued investment to
the tune of €1.4m Euros helped achieve a record year for cross border volumes.
This level of growth puts even more mileage between us and our competitors,
providing significant opportunities for our members across all our networks
as well as our customers. We are forecasting even stronger growth of 50
per cent in the year ahead. This success will also help drive the acquisition
of multinational customers and members, adding to our credibility in the
marketplace.
"We will continue to innovate in terms of product and service development.
For example we are introducing a Euro Light Pallet and increasing our added
value offering with AM and timed delivery options. Following the success
of our first International regional hub in London, we will be implementing
more competitive rates in this area. At the same time we look to strengthen
our competitive offering in Italy and Spain and will significantly improve our
service offering in France. We will be introducing faster delivery times to both
the north and the south of the country and ensuring better connectivity to Southern Europe.
"We are also planning to add Switzerland, Scandinavia and six new Eastern European countries to our
already extensive network. It all makes for arguably the most exciting year yet for the Group in terms of
international developments."

Palletways European expansions allow us to secure more business with existing accounts
with relatively little extra input. More importantly, it opens doors to potential customers
who prefer a single supplier for their European business. We are very excited with the
prospect that Poland is being added to the countries covered.
