Marketing at
your fingertips
Palletways has launched an
exciting new web-based system
to enable members to quickly and
easily create and manage their
own marketing campaigns.
Campaign Central is currently being trialled
by a sample of fifteen network members.
Following a brief 30 minute training session
each member was provided with an individual
log-in which allows them access to a suite
of marketing materials and campaigns
containing direct mail, email and advertising.
Each campaign contains templates which
are designed to be easily branded and
personalised by members. Campaign Central
also contains response management and
campaign measurement tools to enable the
effectiveness of activities to be monitored.
The first campaigns to be made available are
for new members, European services, and
special offer promotions.
In addition to templates for dual branded
promotions there is a file share area from
which sales support materials, photographs,
Powerpoint and iPad presentations can be
downloaded. A link to enable members to
source printing and branded promotional
items to be produced by Palletways preferred
supplier Graysons has also been included
to streamline the process.
Marketing Executive, Katie Lawton, said:
"Campaign Central is very simple to
use and puts the timing and control
of campaigns at the ingertips of our
members. We will be rolling it out to
all members following the Regional
Meetings in June."
The Big Opportunity
What have been the biggest changes in
the Palletways network since 1994?
In the early days, Palletways was one of four
pallet networks serviced by Cooper Carriers.
It proved to have the ambition and the drive
to rise to the top and achieve the success
that we all enjoy today. Our thanks go to
the Management Team at Palletways, who
through the years have been there to assist
us in adding our value to the membership.
Happy Birthday from all at Cooper Carriers.
Jack Richards and Son Ltd joined the network
in its infancy; Jack himself (sadly departed in
May at the grand age of 90) saw the immediate
opportunity and took the decision to get
involved. One ERF 18 T rigid with a drag
trailer, double shited and one person in the
oice, the ERF went up with four pallets on the
irst run arrived back with three swapped drivers
and of it went to deliver them and so it started.
The business model was so diferent that it was almost
dismissed by the main haulage business and even Jack's judgment
was in question of whether it would be worth it. Well here we are in
2014 and the Palletways operation is now a mainstay of the business,
and leads the way when understanding the role of customer services
versus logistics. Used regularly as a test bed for new innovation and
technology across the company it may not be as big the JR haulage
boys but Palletways Fakenham punches well above its weight, again
Jack was right.
Palletways has come along way since 17th
May 1994, when we were among the first to
trunk pallets to the hub. No one knew what
would happen: how many pallets would
everyone take up and how many would
need to be delivered? Would it work? The
first members meeting quickly followed in
June 1994 and quickly the basic structures
that we see today started to come into being
including the Code of Practice. Whilst the concept
has not changed, the methodology has changed dramatically.
The development of the whole industry has changed beyond
recognition not only in terms of the number of pallets being
handled, the geographical coverage but also in terms of the service
level. We have had some great times and long may they continue.
