By the time you read this I will have let Palletways for
pastures new. Since I joined in 2005 I have enjoyed
working with you all and wish you every success.
At the forthcoming regional meetings, Luis Zubialde
the new UK Managing Director and his team will be
sharing the Vision 20:20 strategy with you and the
exciting technological innovations that will form the
foundation of Palletways' future growth, continuing
to set the company apart from the competition
and maintaining its market leading
position. Most importantly,
I believe it will bring you all
another 20 years of growth
and success.
A Major Appointment
The Palletways Group has strengthened its UK
management team with the appointment of
former Palletways Iberia Managing Director, Luis
Zubialde, as UK Managing Director.
This is a new position, which complements the
senior management team Palletways already has
in place in the UK. Julian Maturi will continue in
his role as UK Chairman.
James Wilson said: "Luis has led our business in Iberia
for the last seven years, during which time he has
spearheaded its rapid growth and development from
a start-up operation to a well-established network
with 59 members and two hub operations in Madrid
and Zaragoza.
"Above all the appointment supports our strategic
objective to be the European Pallet Network of
natural choice for the distribution of palletised
express freight."
Palletways has announced the launch of its
new hub in Nijmegen as the demand for its
services continue to grow across Belgium,
the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
The new 52,400 sq ft facility is double the size of the previous hub
and has been tailor made to suit the requirements of the network.
In addition to being significantly larger than the previous distribution
centre, the new site offers a number of modern distribution concepts,
including Palletways' innovative PORT system which tracks every
individual consignment shipped through the network in real time.
Further warehousing space has been incorporated into the site,
with a second 9,000 sq ft warehouse adjacent to the distribution
centre which will host a Palletways Fulfilment Service. This service,
the first to be established outside the UK is in direct response to
customer demand and has a capacity for around 1,500 pallets at
a time. Fulfilment provides customers with storage, break bulk,
comprehensive stock management, pick, pack and distribution
services tailored to their requirements.
Henk Dellepoort, Palletways Managing Director in Benelux, said:
"Holland is one of the world's busiest shipping and
logistics locations, and with Nijmegen positioned so close
to the German border we wanted to ensure that our new
distribution centre could handle the ever-growing demands
of Europe's leading pallet network. This new facility will
guarantee that we continue to provide our customers and
members with the best possible services, both now and
in the future".
