Palletways Recognised
As Business Of The Year
Palletways has been awarded the prestigious
Express & Star Business of the Year Award
at an annual dinner that celebrates the best
businesses from across the Midlands.
The network was recognised for its
commitment to its staff through its
development programme for internal workers
and members, its dedication to upholding
the highest levels of training and health and
safety, and for its contribution to the region.
Collecting the award, Martyn Young said:
"This year we celebrate our 20th Anniversary.
We started out in one aircraft hangar on an
industrial estate in Fradley with two forklift
drivers and one office person. Today we
have grown to take over the whole estate and
have six sheds, and employ 350 with 300
independent hauliers now linked with us.
Winning the award has been a real team effort".
The accolade follows on from the Best Place
to Work Award that Palletways won at last
years' event.

Join Our Club For
Business Beneits
Want to improve your business
skills and socialise with other
members? Then look no
further than the Palletways
Business Club!
The clubs meet three times a year
to provide a forum for members
to share best practice, their
experience and knowledge, discuss
issues relating to their business and
how they have tackled and resolved
specific problems. Meetings are hosted
by a member at their business on a Thursday
afternoon and include a tour of their depot followed by an informal
dinner at a local hotel. The following morning presentations on key
issues are given by business and industry experts.
Since its introduction in 2001, Business Club meetings have been held
throughout the UK and in Italy and Holland. Presentations have been
given on a wide range of subjects including debt management, in-cab
communications and marketing.
Membership of the clubs is free and provides members with excellent
opportunities to network with their fellow members, share their
experiences and gain valuable knowledge.
There are now two business Clubs in existence, Club 1 was the first to
be established and it quickly became fully subscribed so Club 2 was
created to meet member demand. The next meeting for Club 2 will be
held in Cardiff at John T. Evans on 26th and 27th June, and will include
presentations byerrol.mathews@performetrix.co.uk as a visit to the
Millenium Stadium!

What Business Club Members say...
"I never go to a Business Club without coming back with something
new… All Depot Principals should attend, it helps enhance
relationships which is invaluable".
Kieran Conlan - Transland International
"BUSINESS - the opportunity to get free consultation with
like minded business people who are also your friends
CLUB -a reminder that we all have a life outside of business"
Nick Verral Shakespeare - Logistics
"One of the best parts of the Business Club is seeing how other depots
do different things... we have implemented several ideas as a result of
seeing how it can be done in a more efficient way."
