4 Academy Autumn Watch
Our active communities
CAT academies have been busy welcoming families of
prospective pupils as many applications for 2015 entry are
made this term. Parents can contact the school at any time in
the year to make individual appointments to visit.
For current pupils, preparations for the festive season are
always exciting but other seasonal activities have been adding
autumn and winter colour to the term too.
Bulb Planting Day at Fernhurst
Members of Fernhurst Horticultural Society braved wind and
rain with parents to help Fernhurst Primary School plant bulbs
ready for a grand spring display. Each class planned a creative
design including a multi-coloured snake and a huge number 5
(which class could that be?) while over £150 was raised to
pay for the bulbs and grounds improvements.
Making a new friend!
Kingsham Primary School's creative KS1 gardeners have been
having great fun making Humphrey, their very own Kingsham
scarecrow, in the Arty Gardeners after school club with
Reception teachers Mrs Gallimore and Miss Howlett.
Fireworks Extravaganza
There was plenty of snap, crackle and pop at the fireworks
evening organised by Frogmore Junior School's Parent Teacher
Association. Volunteer friends of the school produced hot
food and popcorn while glow sticks and fireworks lit up the
sky. Headteacher Mrs Sarah Thorpe said, 'The evening was
described to me as "one of the best in living memory" and
was a fantastic family event.'
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is particularly meaningful for Mill Chase
Academy as many of the students are from Service families.
Principal Paul Hemmings said, 'I was proud to take part in the
Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph in Bordon along with
our Head Boy, Ryan Davis and Head Girl Emma Lucas. Head
of Music Mrs Silverman provided the hymns and music along
with several Music students and our students represented
Mill Chase Academy impeccably.'
