Cunard Queen Mary 2 is the flagship of the fleet and
the largest ocean liner afloat. This fabulous ship has
lots of space on board, more so than any other ship
afloat. The Queens Ballroom is the largest at sea,
while the Planetarium and Maritime Quest are unique
features on board this ship. The Canyon Ranch Spa#
is one of the best afloat with a large hydrotherapy
pool, relaxation lounge, steam room and saunas. This
ship has 2 outdoor swimming pools, a separate top
deck cooling splash pool and an indoor solarium pool
with a retractable roof. The popular Golden Lion Pub,
Vueve Cliquot Champagne Bar, Commodore Club
cocktail bar and Sir Samuels wine bar and cafe have
recently undergone extensive refurbishment, as have
all of the staterooms on board.
The magnificent Britannia restaurant has a sweeping
staircase and an imposing two storey high tapestry of
Queen Mary 2 interwoven with the New York skyline
and Brooklyn Bridge. The Kings Court area offers 24
hour dinning in four separate self service buffet style
restaurants: The Carvery, Lotus, Chef's Galley & La
Piazza. Each night two of these convert to "Pop Up"
A La Carte speciality restaurants# . On sunny days the
The Boardwalk Cafe on the top deck serves delicious
grill style lunches for un-interrupted sun bathing.
The Todd English restaurant# offers specialty lunch &
dinners for an extra charge while pub style lunches in
the Golden Lion Pub are FREE of charge.
This ship is approximately 90,000 tonnes compared to
Queen Mary 2 at 151,400 tonnes and is a Vista Class
ship similar in layout to other cruise ships such as P&O
Arcadia . The Queen Victoria is also the sister ship and
blue print for the newer and slightly larger Cunard
Queen Elizabeth. The decor is themed on Victoriana
with lots of dark wood panelling, arched interior
windows and alcoves; deep greens, reds and blues.
The Golden Lion Pub and the sweet shop look as if
they have been plucked out of a Victorian London
street. The Royal Arcade features a large Victorian
clock at the foot of the stairs.
The sheltered Pavilion Pool is situated mid-ships
while the Lido Pool is aft for great vistas and sail-away
parties. The fitness centre is free and the segregated
changing rooms each have a FREE Swedish sauna.
At 2pm each day the latest feature film is shown in
the theatre. You can even take fencing lessons in the
Queens ball room in the mornings. The Chart Room
is perfect for a pre-dinner aperitif accompanied by
a string Quartet and the Veuve Cliquot champagne
bar makes a special treat! The Royal Court Theatre
features bookable private boxes and on the last night
enjoy the signature farewell Victoriana show. This is
a memorable and rousing music show with period
costumes, song a dance culminating in flag waving
Land of Hope and Glory - very British indeed.
Launched by the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in
October 2010- Cunard Queen Elizabeth is slightly
larger than her sister ship Queen Victoria. The decor
on board is lighter, fresh and 30's style in contrast to
the heavier & darker Victorian theme of the Queen
Victoria. This ship has a single sitting Britannia Club
dining option and an enhanced sports deck with
and English country garden ambiance for bowls &
croquet. The Lido pool deck has been extended
further back for more sunbathing space and unlike the
other ships of the fleet Cunard Queen Elizabeth has
the French 20's inspired Verandah alternative dining
restaurant# modelled from the original Cunard Queen
Elizabeth launched in 1940.
The staircase in the Grand Lobby bears a wooden
fresco of the original Queen Elizabeth and the portrait
of her Majesty the Queen is not to be missed. As with
all Cunard ships you will find the signature touches
that make these cruises simply unbeatable. The FREE
guest launderettes on each deck, the Commodore Club
and the Golden Lion pub serving FREE Fish & chips at
lunchtime. Don't forget the alternative dining evenings#
in a section of the Lido restaurant - dine by reservation
with Waiter service and menus. They alternate the
themes of Traditional English Carvery, Indian, Oriental,
French and Italian throughout the cruise.
