Dennis Breakwell
Dennis Breakwell with Jos Buttler at Lord's
Dennis has been at King's for over 25 years and is a King's legend. When people think of
King's cricket they immediately mention Dennis for his wonderful sense of humour, his
awesome cricket pitches and the fact that he can still bamboozle our top players in the
nets.
Dennis was a key man behind the emergence of Jos Buttler, Alex Barrow and Craig Meschede
as first team players at Somerset. Vic Marks says that they all 'benefited from the wisdom of
Dennis Breakwell' and that 'he is a very fine coach'.
A real highlight for Dennis was Jos Buttler's England test match debut at the Rose Bowl.
Dennis said: "It was Boy's Own stuff and absolutely brilliant. You couldn't have wanted more
than what he did. He looked a bit nervous to start off with but afterwards everybody said
what a great player he is and talking about what he had done. It is awesome and makes me
feel so very proud that I was able to help him in his cricketing development."
Dennis added: "I sent him a text last night saying brilliant and he replied with 'hanks Den'
which says it all. It was no surprise to me that he did so well and I am sure there is a still a lot
more there to come in the future."
OAs have a chance to pay tribute to Dennis by coming to King's on the weekend of 6-7
June. On the Saturday the 1st XI play Canford after which there will be a hog roast. On the
Sunday Dennis Breakwell's XI will play a School XI.
