OA November Dinner
he annual November reunion was a splendid event. 62 OAs, staff, former staff and guests gathered together to enjoy each
other's company, a delicious meal and to honour Chris Holmes, former Director of Music, who retired from King's at the
end of last academic year.
A significant number of former choir members and musicians attended the event: too good an opportunity to miss! A
performance of Chris' anthem 'I Saw a New Heaven' took the place of grace before the meal. he tenor solo was sung by
Phillip Brown (Meynell 1985). He actually sang the solo in the first performance back in 1985. Nicola Semple (Taylor 2002)
sang the soprano solo and the choir was directed by Nikki Ridley (née Dragonetti, Carpenter 1999).
he Headmaster, Richard Biggs, updated OAs on the school news and we were then treated to another musical interlude.
Duncan Miller (Woodard 1985) performed a jazz piano work of his own composition entitled 'Faldouet'.
Chris Holmes' speech followed. Reminiscent of the old Wind Band Show scripts, he provoked a groan or two and a great
deal of laughter. OAs from the 1940s - 2000s were represented and it was excellent to see a greater number of younger OAs
attending.
