TENNIS
FOOTBALL
he annual OA Football match took place on Saturday 3 March 2012.
With a good number of OAs returning to play we were able to field two
teams, one made up of recent leavers (including a good number of the
2011 team), and one made up of slightly more mature players. he OA
Recent team was pitted against the current 1st XI and with a powerful
drive from Ryan May followed by two goals from Omar Hamaoui the
King's 1st XI secured a resounding victory in an extremely competitive
game. he OA Past team fared better in their match versus the current
King's 2nd XI, with experience triumphing over youth in a 3 - 1 win for
the OAs. OAs can never get enough football and after the scheduled
matches against the current King's teams the OAs faced each other in a
well-spirited final challenge. Once again experience surpassed youth as
the OA Past netted three times to take the fixture 3 - 0.
OA Sport
Saturday 19 May saw the annual OA Men's Tennis fixture
against the Boys' 1st Team. he OA team consisted of
Giles Cooper, Martin Chubb, Nick Grimes, Sammy Li,
Peter Belfield and Toby Catton. he afternoon of tennis
was set to be a good match as King's 1st team had had
a good number of wins in their school matches. As
predicted, the tennis was of a high standard and the
dominant pairing of Cooper and Chubb showed the
boys how to play textbook doubles. here were some
close matches and unfortunately Nick Grime and Sammy
Li lost to King's 1st pair resulting in their unbeaten record
at Kings coming to an end. Overall the matches were
close, however the OAs were
victorious again, 5 matches to 4. A great afternoon had by all, thanks to all the OAs who travelled
many miles to take part in this event.
