he Stockholm School of Economics
ANDREW EDMONSTON-LOW - Neates 2001
Hej hej from Stockholm
In 2009 I decided it was high time I got a degree - I left King's in 2001 - but I wanted
something different from being a run-of-the-mill English student in an English
university paying crazy money for a mediocre education.
I have done both my university bachelor
and masters studies in Scandinavia.
I studied International Business at
the Copenhagen Business School
(CBS) and am now doing a masters in
management at the Stockholm School
of Economics (SSE), Scandinavia's
best business school, with a strong
interest in the outdoor industry - in
particular Fenix Outdoor, the holding
company of outdoor brands such Fjällräven, Primus, Tierra and HanWag. he
opportunities for young graduates in Scandinavia are as endless as the forests,
and higher education is free and of top quality. University and the business
environment are intricately linked together with wide-ranging opportunities
to get real-world business experience even during one's education.
I love the outdoors, modern living and above all, Europe. he Scandinavian
way embraces the essence of all this and its education system focuses on you,
the individual. Even better, it's free! Sweden, even more so than Denmark, is the perfect home from home. Nature is right
there and it's endless, just inviting you to go and explore.
I currently work as a student ambassador for SSE to promote our international master programs abroad. CBS even have
great bachelor programs all in English and I would encourage any graduate from King's Taunton to study there and here.
he photos show two trips. First, in June and July 2009, just before starting my Bachelor at CBS, I cycled 3500km around
Sweden and Norway to explore the Scandinavian nature, its people and their cultures. he photo with my fully packed bike
was taken up on Juntenheimen in Norway. Second, this Easter I went to the mountains in Sweden's Jämtland region (only
halfway up the country, yet still an 8-hour drive from Stockholm) to do a 3-day ski tour, including camping out in the snow,
with SSE's GetOut adventure club. We even sang traditional Swedish snaps songs with a full Swedish Easter Smörgåsbord up
in one of the mountain huts to celebrate the occasion. his summer I shall be cycling 1500km from Stockholm to Lapland
to then hike 110km along Kungleden around Kibnekaise, Sweden's highest mountain.
