London Reunion
Hong Kong Reception
OA Events
Hong Kong was a blast. As it usually is. We were royally
looked after and managed to see and do a huge amount
in just five days. Just a taste: an overnight visit to Macau,
a visit to a nightclub (not my usual sort of habitat, but
interesting nonetheless), a wonderful trip on a junk to an
island beach restaurant (bizarrely, a Philippino-run South
African restaurant, serving excellent boerewors....on a Lantau
island), some fantastic meals and a morning's hike in the
south-east of the main island. he reception for OAs, present
pupils and parents, in the offices of Victor Chu, one of our
most distinguished OAs, was a huge success. his was the
tenth anniversary of my first visit to Hong Kong. I have been
going more or less each year since then, in one guise or another, and have never
grown tired of it. he friendliness and generosity of parents and alumni is always
overwhelming and I thank them all warmly for their welcome and support.
Richard Biggs, Headmaster
We were grateful to Commodore Jamie Miller for arranging the
unusual setting of HMS President - not a ship but a land base next
to Tower Bridge - for our London reception. his impressive venue,
occasionally used by very senior admirals for prestigious events and
recently used by the Queen to disembark at the conclusion of the
Royal Jubilee River Pageant, has a sensational view of the River and
of Tower Bridge. We were very well looked after by our hosts and
were also given a professional view of the contemporary roles of the
modern navy by the Royal Navy presentation team. An excellent
evening enjoyed by everyone.
