Family Responsibility Leave
We always give sympathetic consideration to requests from employees for
family responsibility leave.
Three days of paid leave shall be granted in a calendar year (i.e. Jan to Dec)
under the following circumstances:
• For Male employees, when his child is born (paternity leave);
• When the employee's child is sick; or
• In the event of the death of the employee's spouse or life partner;
parent or adoptive parent; in-laws; grandparent; child or adoptive
child; grandchild or sibling
Often a combination of special paid leave, unpaid leave and annual leave can
be agreed that enables the employee to have the time off they need. It is
often impossible for this type of absence to be authorised in advance, but
staff are asked to seek permission from their Manager at the earliest
opportunity.
Unpaid Leave
Whilst the company has no legal obligation to grant any staff member leave
without pay, all applications will be considered by the line manager and HR.
All applications should be made on an Absence Request Form.
