From the Chairman
Ed Hawkins - Chairman
Dear OAs
As you read through this newsletter you will see that we have
had some very successful OA events since the last issue and
that we have no less than 15 events planned already for next
year, covering a number of continents. his programme owes a
great deal to the hard work of Leisa Lavender, Brenda Hayman
and Debbie Rew, as well as the contribution of Alison Mason
and, as a club, we are very grateful to them. I hope that you will
be able to attend one or more of these functions and would
draw your attention to the London event in May at the House
of Commons when hopefully it will be warm enough for us
to enjoy the spectacular setting of the terrace by the hames.

Charles Manners OA, Carpenter 1976 writes:
he reunion for 75 to 77 leavers at King's in September was great fun and very memorable.
Many of us had been back to school for brief visits, but after 37 years, to spend 24 hours
there was interesting, and despite the many changes the school had the same feeling! Over
40 OAs and their wives were able to attend, many of us had not seen each other since the
summer of '76!
he weekend started with us watching the 1st XV beat Plymouth College, followed by
an excellent dinner hosted by Victor Chu OA, then on the Sunday morning we attended
chapel where we said prayers and heard an eulogy for Nigel Fielder OA, (Tuckwell) who
sadly recently passed away, and finished with lunch, an exhausting weekend!
We were superbly looked after by the school, with special mention to the Headmaster
for his kind hospitality, and the tireless organisation of Leisa Lavender and her team which
helped make the weekend such a success.
