Fifty five trainee mentors from across the Trust attended the three day programme in Autumn 2017
and submitted their portfolios of evidence in early January 2018.
The skills, education and training of all mentors is of vital importance in ensuring that practice
placements for nursing and midwifery students provide rich, high quality learning.
As well as providing support and guidance to students in the practice area, a mentor has the
unique opportunity to role model professional values and behaviours and to instill professional
integrity.
Every nurse, in line with the NMC Code (2015), is required to support students and colleagues
learning to help them develop their professional competence and confidence.
