The Practice Education Team and Midwifery launched the Trust's first Midwifery Careers Day
programme on the 14 November 2017 in partnership with Organisation and Workforce Development
Team and Work Inspirations. Students from South Eastern Regional College (SERC) and seventeen
local schools attended. This was a new initiative to support work experience and future workforce
planning. The students had the opportunity to experience 'A Day in the Life of a Midwife' and engage
in practical skills such as abdominal palpation and basic life support.
Students also had the opportunity to engage with and inform the production of the first interactive
Midwifery Careers E-Magazine (co-production at its best!!) and meet with a range of professionals
from practice, education and the volunteer service. The success of this event will inspire future events
for all fields of nursing!!
