Preventing Pressure Ulcers
All facilities continue to openly display their individual standard of pressure ulcer prevention in the
form of a safety cross and the number of days between the development of pressure ulcers. These
tools enable each ward to benchmark their own progress and provide easy access of this information
to all staff, patients and the public.
In 2018 we had the pleasure of congratulating Thompson House on achieving 1000+ pressure ulcer
free days, but also Ward 20, Ulster Hospital on achieving 2000+ pressure ulcer free days.
Both of these are prime examples of outstanding achievements which reflects upon the level of care
and commitment within the South Eastern HSC Trust.
Well done everybody, let's keep the spirit alive as we collaboratively strive to reduce pressure ulcer
incidence Trustwide.
Nursing staff at Thompson House Hospital,
Lisburn celebrated 1,113 days
pressure ulcer free.
Director of Nursing, Nicki Patterson joined
the celebration and said it was a remarkable
achievement given the challenging
circumstances.
The One Thousand Day Celebration had to
be postponed due to heavy snow, so there
were an extra 113 days to mark.
Congratulations to Ward 20 Ulster Hospital,
who in May 2018 celebrated 2017 days
of NO patients on their ward suffering
a pressure ulcer.
Nicki Patterson, Director of Nursing
