We have had 2 significant patient goal achievements on the ward to date and they were:
1. Patient requiring maximum assistance x 2 people and unable to weight bare to becoming
independently mobile with a walking aid.
2. Another patient came requiring nursing home care and prior to leaving this was down turned
due to significant progress to a package of care allowing the patient to return home.
Data has been very positive in relation to nursing KPI's and cleaning KPI's, this data is displayed to
the general public also for transparency.
We have bespoke staff training in dementia and delirium care and we have our own nurse practitioner
and senior nurse who offer a drop in clinic and is contactable to those families for a chat and advice
in relation to dementia care. This is a bespoke service.
The data has been significant allowing us to save significant bed days on the acute side of the
hospital.
An example of bed throughput for the month of December was 99 patients were discharged out of
the ward's 13 beds.
This is now going to significantly improve with additional bed capacity. Our average length of stay
on the ward is 3 days.
This ward has so far been a massive success for the Ulster Hospital and also for the Nursing family.
We are so proud of our unit and it is growing from strength to strength.
