work remotely for longer periods.
It cuts down on the need for
offi ce space and the associated
running costs, as well as being
popular with the workforce. This
trend has been apparent for a
while but was turbo-charged
following the Covid outbreak.
In the UK, a report from
Executives around the world are getting to grips with the new
way of working, and demand for properties with a home offi ce
is through the roof. Abigail Wells-Davies explains all.

shows that more than 8 in 10
workers who had to work from
home now plan to hybrid work.
Perhaps not surprisingly, they tell
us that high earners are more
likely to work from home, as
are people aged between 30-50.
It is a similar tale across France,
other European countries, and
North America - and it has had
a direct impact on the French
property market. Put simply, we
are seeing younger buyers with
bigger budgets.
This trend becomes immediately
clear when buyers brief
us on their ideal property. For
decades "within walking distance
of a bar and commerce" was at
the top of the list; now, it is "a
home offi ce, preferably with a
view out over the countryside
and fi bre optic broadband". Much
as it goes against our innate
desire to vacation in peace and
quiet, the work-from-holidayhome
era is here to stay.
Our country property sales
rose by 40% last year on the back
