King's widely acclaimed Big Band returned to Jersey in June
for concerts at two Jersey schools and a public concert in St
Hellier Town Hall in aid of the British Red Cross. he public
concert was arranged by Nick Chandler OA, Operations
Manager of the British Red Cross, Channel Islands, and was
well attended by members of the public, OAs and Friends.
he band, consisting of some the finest King's musicians and singers, played something for everyone, from traditional to
more contemporary pieces.
he band have been regular visitors to Jersey in past years.
Director of Music Colin Albery said: "he band has enjoyed
getting out of school and playing their exciting range of
tunes to local audiences. he band members had a great trip
enjoying the beach and the sites of Jersey!"
he Old Pelican Society hosted a lunch at Mulberry
Headquarters in Kensington with the kind permission and
support of Mulberry CEO and King's Council member,
Godfrey Davis. Guests were given a tour of the new
Mulberry collection and information about the company
before a wonderful lunch. Peter Champion spoke about the
work of the Old Pelican Society and Leisa Lavender gave a short update on school news. Julian Calder kindly donated
a signed copy of his latest books to the school library and
talked about his commission of 'he Queen's Birthday
