Who can apply? How long is the Programme?
Staff that would benefit from this program
includes clinical leaders (physicians,
nurses, allied health professionals) who
want to make substantial improvements in
the care of individuals and the health of
populations, while reducing health care
costs. Places are limited to two applications
per year.
This 10-month professional development
program includes three four-day, face-toface
workshops and a series of web-based
sessions in the months between meetings.
The monthly web-based workshops provide
an opportunity for participants to receive
feedback on their projects from the faculty
and fellow participants.

The curriculum is built around both theory and
practical skills applied to the participants'
improvement projects. It is the combination of

Development Program unique and provides

Each participant is required to direct one or
more improvement projects (connected to
her or his organisation's business plan)
during the program.
Each participant will receive an IHI certificate
of completion.
Improvement Advisor Professional Development Programme
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), in conjunction with Associates in Process
Improvement (API), offers this programme to help individuals in this critical role build and hone skills
in the art and science of improvement, plus the ability to work with and coach front-line teams in
achieving and maintaining successful changes.
