Improve Uptake HPV Rates

• The HPV vaccine offers protection from four HPV types including
those that are responsible for about 70% of cervical cancers. Each
year around 90 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in NI,
with an average of 22 women dying from the disease.
• 2 doses of the vaccine, given 6 months apart, are required to achieve
adequate protection.
• Latest figures from PHA show a reduction in the levels of uptake of
the vaccine in NI
• Border trusts have been affected because of negative organisations
in the SOI as well as general myths and barriers
• PHA and DoH has asked us to address our reduction in consent
returns Trust wide
