BUILDING SURVEYING HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This technician level qualification combines a broad-based
first-year curriculum with a more specialist second-year
curriculum, which will provide you with the skills required for
employment in this sector.
Minimum entry requirements
Year one:
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including Mathematics
or a Science subject, OR
• A National Certificate in Built Environment at SCQF level
6, OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
Year two:
• HNC Built Environment.
• It may also be possible to gain entry with an HNC in
Building Surveying. This will depend on the units that
have been covered in the HNC. Students who gain
entry with this qualification will require a bespoke infill
programme, so each application will be considered on an
individual basis.

ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This course gives you a technician level qualification,
combining a broad first year curriculum with a specialist
second year curriculum. It'll give you the skills required for
employment in this high demand industry sector. You'll also
have the opportunity to go on site visits around the West
of Scotland to give you an understanding of contemporary
relevance.
Minimum entry requirements
Year one:
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including Mathematics
or a Science subject; OR
• NC in Built Environment at SCQF level 6; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
Year two:
• HNC Built Environment.
• It may also be possible to gain entry with an HNC in
Architectural Technology. This will depend on the units
that have been covered in the HNC. Students who gain
entry with this qualification will require a bespoke infill

COMPUTER AIDED ARCHITECTURAL
DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This is a technician level qualification that provides
a specialist curriculum focused on the application of
Computer Aided Design software in a construction specific
context. It is underpinned by a Construction Industry
specific curriculum and will equip you with the skills required
for employment in this specialist industry sector. An
Architectural Technologist is a specialist in the technological
aspects of building design and construction, bridging the
gap between design theory and construction practice.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including Mathematics,
English, Graphics, Product Design or a Science subject;
OR
• National Certificate at SCQF level 6 in a relevant subject
area; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

QUANTITY SURVEYING HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
The HND in Quantity Surveying is a technical level qualification
that combines a construction industry specific first-year
curriculum with a more specialist second-year curriculum
that equips you with the skills required for employment in this
specialist industry sector. Quantity Surveyors (also known as
Construction Cost Consultants or Commercial Managers)
manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering
projects, from the early design plans through to completion.
Quantity Surveyors seek to minimise the costs of a project
and enhance value, while still achieving the required standards
and quality. Many of these are specified by statutory building
regulations, which the surveyor needs to understand and
adhere to.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including Mathematics or
a Science subject; OR
• National Certificate in Built Environment at SCQF level 6; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

CIVIL ENGINEERING HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
The course is designed to give you an overview of the
industry and covers a broad range of subjects. From the
subjects you complete as part of the HND programme,
you can then choose what area within civil engineering you
wish to specialise in, from structures to railways. Choosing
your own path means you can do the job you enjoy, but it
also allows employers to mold you from a good grounding
knowledge of Civil Engineering into an area that is in
demand from industry.

• 2 Highers at Grade C or above including Mathematics or
a Science subject; OR
• National Certificate in Civil Engineering at SCQF level 6;
OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
