SOCIAL SERVICES HNC

Course overview
This course will provide you with the values, skills and
knowledge you need to work effectively in a range of care
settings. You will focus on the values that underpin work
in social care settings, National Care Standards and the
Scottish Social Services Council codes of practice and
how it informs your practice. You will develop the skills
required to work with a range of service users, preparing for
employment in a care setting.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above in subjects such as
English, History, Modern Studies, Care, Geography or a
Language; OR
• NPA Health & Social Care: Children & Young
People plus 1 Higher; OR
• National Qualification at SCQF level 6 in a
related subject; OR.
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

CITYWORKS NQ
(SCQF Level 3)
Course overview
This course is designed for students with additional support
needs who are interested in finding work-based training and
employment.
The focus of this course is work experience however, you
will study a range of SQA qualifications. You will be involved
in horticulture placements in our college gardens and
allotment while also working in our community-based café.
You will also have the opportunity to work in other areas
across the college such as Housekeeping, Catering and
Reception.
Minimum entry requirements
• English at National 3, Numeracy at National 3.
• Able to travel independently.
• Additional Support Needs.

PROJECT SEARCH EMPLOYABILITY
PROGRAMME
(SCQF Level 3)
Course overview
This course is for people on the autistic spectrum who want to
increase their employment prospects. It is part of a partnership
between the City of Glasgow College, Glasgow City Council
Supported Employment Services, Autism Network Scotland
and the University of Strathclyde. You will complete three
work placements called rotations, each rotation will develop
skills across a range of settings including Hospitality, Catering,
Estates and Support services.
Minimum entry requirements
• You must be on the Autistic Spectrum.
• Be between 18 years and 24 years.
• Be able to travel independently.
• Ability to get on well with others.
• Are enthusiastic about working five days a week and being
on time every morning. Due to funding constraints, you must
be a City of Glasgow Council resident.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES NQ
(SCQF Level 2)
Course overview
This course is for students with additional support needs
who are interested in developing independence and
employability skills and who are keen to progress to adult
education, training and employment. The course will
build on existing skills in a variety of vocational contexts
including Hospitality, Horticulture, Retail, Housekeeping,
Administration and Catering.
Minimum entry requirements
• National 2 English, National 2 Numeracy.
• Working towards independent travel.
• Ability to cope in a class of 10 - 12.
• Additional Support needs.

TRANSITIONS PROGRAMME NQ
(SCQF Level 3)
Course overview
This course is designed for students with Asperger's
Syndrome who require some support in making a
successful transition to Further Education. We try to find a
balance of subjects that you want to learn and those that
you need to learn in order to succeed in an adult learning
environment. A key part of the course is regular guidance
to ensure you are on track and helping you to manage your
next transition - usually to mainstream programmes at NC
or HN.
