DIGITAL JOURNALISM HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
Journalists must have the essential skills of writing and
research but are now expected to record sound, shoot
video and edit on digital systems. They are also increasingly
expected to produce their own web content. This course
has been developed to ensure that you are well versed
and practised in the digital skills which are the future of
Journalism. This is a skills specific course suitable only for
those who have a desire to pursue journalism as a career.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including English or
Modern Studies; OR
• NC Media or related subject; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience AND
• Some practical skills in IT, including word processing,
email and internet.

TELEVISION PRODUCTION NQ
(SCQF Level 6)
Course overview
We'll show you the professional way to create great
content, from studio-based programmes to short films.
You'll learn industry-specific skills like camera, editing,
scriptwriting, sound and lighting. We'll teach you how to
plan and schedule your shoot, and you'll experience the
challenges and rewards of working in a production crew,
both in our state-of-the-art television studio and out on
location.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above
including English; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

CREATIVE INDUSTRIES: TELEVISION HNC
(SCQF Level 7)
Course overview
This course develops the skills you need for television
production. It is designed to focus on the creative and
practical skills required in single camera and studio
production, while supporting practical experience of
camera, sound, lighting, directing, editing and production
management.
Minimum entry requirements
• Higher English at Grade C or above AND Two National 5
qualifications; OR
• NC Media; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

CREATIVE INDUSTRIES: TELEVISION HND
Year 2 Direct Entry (SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This course will help you to develop skills in all areas of
television production, including camera, sound, editing,
sound dubbing and lighting. An ideal course if you're
interested in TV, film, video, broadcast and working in a
studio environment.
Minimum entry requirements
• HNC Television with 15 credits OR
• Relevant television experience.

TELEVISION BA (HONS)
(SCQF Level 9)
Course overview
This course covers broadcast television, studio and location
work, research, scriptwriting and new media. You'll be
well placed to apply for a limited number of competitive
internship placements at STV and other local production
companies offering valuable hands-on experience in video,
broadcast, editing and online production.
Minimum entry requirements
• HND Creative Industries TV; OR
• Relevant television experience.
