COMPUTING WITH DIGITAL MEDIA NQ

an introductory insight into the theory and practical skills

COMPUTING NQ
(SCQF Level 6)
Course overview
With a growing economy in digital technologies, and a
requirement for a workforce to be skilled in technical roles,
this course provides a platform to develop your technical
computing skills. The course will provide you with practical
and theoretical skills in a range of vital subject areas.
Minimum entry requirements
• Three National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above
including English and Mathematics or Numeracy; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

COMPUTER GAMES DEVELOPMENT HNC
(SCQF Level 7)
Course overview
Students will use industry standard software including
GameMaker2 Studio, Unity, Unreal Engine and hardware
including PC, VR and mobile devices for development. You
should note that this course contains maths subjects and
progression to year 2 depends on having an ability to pass
these subject areas.
Minimum entry requirements
• One Higher at Grade C or above in Mathematics AND
three National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above
including English or Communication and Computer
Science; OR
• One Higher at Grade C or above in Computer Science
AND three National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above
including English or Communication and Maths; OR
• National Qualification at SCQF level 6 in Computer
Games
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

3D COMPUTER ANIMATION HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
On this course you will develop the skills needed to become
a 3D Digital Developer, incorporating live industry-related
projects in a range of different 3D animation disciplines.This
course is aimed at creative individuals with an interest in 3D
and 2D animation, video games, digital art and architectural
visualisation. You will develop skills in 3D character
modelling and animation, environmental modelling, textures
and surfacing, special effects, lighting and camera work.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above AND three National 5
qualifications at Grade C or above including Computing,
Information Systems or Graphic Communications, OR
• National Qualification at SCQF level 5 or 6 in a relevant
subject such as Digital Media Computing or Computer
Arts and Animation
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

COMPUTER GAMES DEVELOPMENT HND
Year 2 Direct Entry (SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
The 2nd year of HND Computer Games Development will
further develop skills in 3D games design and development.
Using Unity and Unreal games engines you will create 3D
games content including characters and environments and
incorporate them in level and games creation, bringing
them to life across a range of platforms such as mobile and
Virtual Reality.
Minimum entry requirements
• HNC Computer Games Development (15 credits).

COMPUTER GAMES AND ANIMATION NQ

This introductory level creative computing course provides
an overview of the key elements of computer games
development, computer modelling and animation (2D and
3D).It will give you the practical and theoretical knowledge
you need to progress to higher level courses in a range of
areas.

Maths or Numeracy and preferably an arts or STEMbased subject; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
