EVENTS NQ
(SCQF Level 5)
Course overview
This course will give you an introduction to a career in the
Events Industry. It covers a wide range of general events,
business and specific industry-related topics to develop
your knowledge and skills in events planning. The events
industry is a diverse and exciting one, offering many areas
for employment, across the UK and the world. Much of
the course is about planning for events covering the theory
aspects. There are also practical elements within the
course.
Minimum entry requirements
• One National 5 qualification at Grade C or above AND
three National 4 qualifications including English and
Mathematics; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

Course overview
The Event Industry offers exciting career opportunities within
corporate, hospitality, sporting, charity and live performance
sectors both nationally and internationally. This course
will provide you with theoretical knowledge and practical
skills for event delivery, alongside development of meta
skills required to undertake a variety of job roles within this
industry. It will also provide you with entry to higher level
Event Management and other related courses.
Minimum entry requirements
• One Higher plus three additional National 5 qualifications
at grade C or above to include English OR
• NQ/NC (minimum 16 credits) at SCQF level 5 preferably
in Events or related subject; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

EVENTS MANAGEMENT HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This course is for those who want a career in the
management of events, e.g. conferences, exhibitions and
special events. On this course, you will cover a wide range
of subjects to ensure a good knowledge base, as well as
relevant skills.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including one from
Business Management, English, Modern Studies,
Economics, History or similar; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM
HOSPITALITY NQ
(SCQF Level 5)
Course overview
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge
necessary to gain employment in the hospitality industry.
This course focuses on food and beverage service, front
office, customer care, food production and hospitality
administration. This course runs August and January.
On successful completion you can move onto the NQ
Hospitality (Level 6) starting January 2021.

• One National 5 qualification at Grade C or above AND
three National 4 qualifications including English and
Mathematics; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

HOSPITALITY NQ
(SCQF Level 6)
Course overview
The Hospitality Industry offers exciting career opportunities
within corporate hospitality, restaurant and bars sectors
both nationally and internationally. You will study subjects
associated with the planning and organising of hospitality
operations, food and beverage service for events, hospitality
costing, excellence in customer care, marketing alongside
developing communication, team working and, decision
making skills whilst enhancing entrepreneurship and
academic study skills. As a team member you will train
within the college's Scholars' Restaurant to develop your
practical skills in customer care and food and beverage
service.
Minimum entry requirements
• One Higher plus three additional National 5 qualifications
at grade C or above to include English OR
• NQ/NC (minimum 14 credits) at SCQF level 5 preferably
in Hospitality or related subject; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
On this course you will develop the knowledge and skills
required to operate effectively at supervisory level in the
hospitality industry. The first year covers both practical and
theoretical subjects. The second year focuses on providing
you with the necessary managerial knowledge and skills for
a junior management position.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above; OR
• National Qualification in Hospitality or related subject; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
