FURNITURE CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH
DESIGN HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This course encourages you to develop practical skills
through manufacture and to express yourself through
design. You'll be encouraged to study in depth the
construction of furniture, to develop and build designs and
to hone your skills in cabinet-making, upholstery and woodfinishing.
Minimum entry requirements
• NC/NQ Furniture Making; OR
• Higher Craft and Design/Design and Manufacture at
Grade C or above AND National 5 English at Grade C or
above; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

FURNITURE NQ
(SCQF Level 5)
Course overview
In this project-based course, you'll cover all the main skills
used in the furniture manufacturing industry, including
craft timber and upholstery. Working in our fully equipped
workshops, you'll also learn about wood finishing and how
changes in culture and lifestyle affect furniture. In addition,
you'll gain experience in both modern and traditional
methods of furniture production.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

DESIGN
FURNITURE RESTORATION HND
(SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This course will allow you to develop your skills in furniture
analysis and practical solutions through workshop activities.
You'll study the history of furniture design and materials as
well as the construction, upholstery and finishing of period
furniture. You'll also restore items of furniture throughout this
course.
Minimum entry requirements
• NC Furniture Making; OR
• Higher Craft and Design at Grade C or above AND
National 5 English at Grade C or above; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ACTING AND PERFORMANCE HNC
(SCQF Level 7)
Course overview
This course develops the skills you require for acting and
performance. It will focus on the practical skills required by
the actor while also supporting the practical experiences
with knowledge of theatre and performance.
Minimum entry requirements
• Two Highers at Grade C or above including English; OR
• NQ Drama; OR
• Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ACTING AND PERFORMANCE HND
Year 2 Direct Entry (SCQF Level 8)
Course overview
This course allows direct entry to year two of the HND
Acting and Performance course and builds on the skills
acquired in HNC by developing knowledge and awareness
of the craft of acting. It's designed for those who are
interested in becoming actors, drama teachers or drama
workers.
Minimum entry requirements
• Direct entry to year two may be possible on successful
completion of the HNC Acting and Performance with 15
credits and positive recommendation from course tutors.
