T
he season started with a fantastic
display against Queen's, despite
ending up on the wrong side of the
final scoreline - the team put in 100%
effort, and went for every interception
possible. Player of the match was Felicity
Moorhead.
After a battling performance at Blundell's,
we enjoyed an evenly matched game
against Wellington. There was some
fantastic defending by Felicity Moorhead
and Lauren Messenger, who turned over
several balls in the circle.
There was a narrow loss at Exeter School,
but the Clifton fixture saw us really click
for the first time - movement on court
was fantastic, and there was outstanding
shooting by Marina Stoddart-Stones and
Anna Denton. Players of the match were
Ellie Cooke who fought hard in defence
and Natasha Spiers for some great work
at centre.
But it was against Stoodley Knowle that
we finally found our rhythm to win 2715.
It took a while to get going, and we
were two goals down at half-time, but
100% work rate from Lauren Messenger
and some fantastic shooting by player of
the match Holly Hands saw us home with
something to spare.
After the rather strange experience of
playing indoors at Taunton School and a
very wet game against Colyton, we
travelled to Canford, where we started
strongly, but couldn't hold our own
against skilful opposition. Player of the
match was Ellie Cooke who was strong in
defence. A season in which much was
learnt!
A
lthough finishing on the wrong end
of the scoreline at Blundell's, the
Bs showed great spirit and
improved greatly throughout the course of
the game. Their true quality was seen in
a competitive game against Wellington
played in a very good spirit. An
outstanding performance by Kate Aston in
defence and Holly Hands' shooting led to
a very satisfying 17-11 win.
We lost a very close game at Exeter
School, despite some dogged defence.
Grace Albery and Lucinda O'Donnell were
a positive force throughout, while player
of the match was Tilly Everard. There
were some very good periods of play in
freezing conditions at Millfield, before a
hugely competitive match played in an
excellent spirit against Clifton, when
Lucinda O'Donnell was player of the
match.
It was an excellent effort at Taunton
School, but we were unable to chase
down some very efficient opponents.
Colyton too were difficult opposition - the
first half was fairly even, but they made
the best of the awful conditions in the
final quarter.
And so to the final day of the season, the
Canford fixture, which was an enjoyable
match played again in an excellent spirit,
but it was a tough contest with which to
end a season.

Highlights of the Cs' season
included a thrilling draw at
Blundell's where player of the match
was Kitty Grace, and a very
competitive match against Clifton.
There was a spirited performance at
Canford, and a hugely enjoyable 1210
win against Taunton School!
