W
ith poor weather and several
schools not fielding Senior Colt
opposition, our season was
limited to just five matches. Slick
passing and clinical decision making
against Millfield led to goals by Sam
Underdown (2), Harvey Walsh and
Kristian Willmott. Despite a second-half
revival by Millfield, our defence led by
keeper Zach Spiers held out to seal a
fantastic 4-2 win, reversing last year's
5-2 defeat.
Cruising to victory at Sherborne thanks to
goals from Harvey Walsh, Sam
Underdown and Cameron Smith, we were
almost made to pay after conceding two
late goals, but we hung on for our 3-2 win.
At Taunton School, we took the lead after a
nice baseline run by Jamie Turvill led to a
tap-in for Sam Underdown. Taunton rallied
though, and it needed an outstanding goal
line clearance by Bertie Preston to keep our
goal intact. Eventually they equalised, but
superior movement and passing in the
second half led to a Jamie Turvill winner
with five minutes left on the clock - Bertie
Preston was man of the match.
Against Canford we put in a hard-working
performance full of commitment, and took
an early lead with a neat finish by Jamie
Shapland. We then suffered through
injuries, but still managed to threaten.
It was a tired start at Bryanston just 48
hours after our appearance in the
Divisional Finals, and we conceded twice
in the first half. The second half though
was dominated by King's with Harvey
Walsh contributing two goals, but against
the run of play Bryanston managed a
winner - a disappointing end to a season
of many highlights.
T
he Bs got their season off to a flying
start, scoring two goals in the first
ten minutes at Queen's through
Kristian Willmott and Henry Breeze. The
floodgates opened in the second half, and
there were further goals for Rory Smith
and Joe Cooke (2), while Henry Breeze
completed his hat-trick in a convincing
7-0 win.
At Sherborne we created numerous
chances, but went into half-time 1-0 down,
and conceded again shortly after the
interval. However we were rewarded with
four goals in 15 minutes - scorers were
Henry Breeze (2), Sam Fletcher and Joe
Cooke, while player of the match was Tom
Frankham in this extremely satisfying win.
Henry Breeze gave us the lead after ten
minutes against Taunton School, but we
then let our standards drop which led to a
Taunton equaliser. Our play though in the
second half was outstanding - Joe Cooke
scored two well-worked team goals, and
there should have been more had it not
been for the post and the Taunton
goalkeeper.
Harry Thomas in goal kept us in the game
in the first half against Canford, but we
were the dominant side after the break,
so it was a shame Canford scored again
five minutes from the end. And beset by
injury in our final game, we failed to take
our chances at Bryanston, letting in three
goals late in the game to give the final
scoreline of the season a rather lopsided
look.
