T
he 2nds got their season off to a
terrible start, conceding twice
against Wycliffe in the first ten
minutes, and then letting in a third before
half-time. The second half though saw a
transformation in our play as we began to
dominate the game. A superb goal by
Conor Bannister and two sensational hits
by Max Germain (one a screaming Robin
van Persie volley from 30 yards) levelled
the scores, but unfortunately we
conceded a fourth in the final minute.
Man of the match was the tirelessly
working Hugo Gerwat in defence.
We were up against a formidable QEH
side, who played with more panache and
confidence. We improved considerably in
the second half though, and created some
good opportunities - man of the match
Sven Witney made a number of excellent
saves.
We then convincingly beat a much fancied
Sidcot side 4-0, highlights including a
spectacular solo goal from Nico Koeppen
and a 45-yard strike by Albert Healey.
But we followed that up with a
disappointing first-half performance
against Blundell's, which allowed them to
score three times. We upped our game
though in the second half and played
some good football, which was rewarded
with two superb goals for Albert Healey.
And we finished our season sharing the
spoils with Exeter School after being
behind for most of the game. A smartly
taken equaliser by Nico Koeppen was a
well-deserved reward for the team's
efforts.

Futsal continues to grow - this fast
and exciting five-a-side game now has
inter-house events, and two Under 18
teams play in the Somerset FA Men's
Futsal Fives League, where our
performances have attracted acclaim.
King's is now established as the hub
for ISFA Futsal in the South West.
We have successfully participated in
the Football Futures Leadership
programme, with four pupils receiving
gold awards for volunteering in
football. Volunteering projects have
included coaching, organising and
delivering tournaments, and
researching the history of King's
football. The results of the latter have
been on display in the Woodard Room
and make for some very interesting
reading.
Pupils have attended ISFA national
training camps, with Connor Sailes,
Liam Redrup and Louis Wood all
called back for ISFA national trials.
Above all King's remains a challenging
and fun place to play football, with
opportunities in all aspects of the
sport!
