At the Taunton School track event, Henry
Willis (800m), Chloe Martin (200m) and
Cameron Smith (200m) each won an
event, whilst Aaron Chapman was a
major contributor of points at the Millfield
Super 8 meeting, a form of team event for
pentathletes.
The seniors also tried hard in unfamiliar
events, coming out of their comfort zones
whether as sprinters, jumpers or
throwers, to do a mixture of such events.
The final event, the BMC fixture at Exeter,
saw personal bests at 800m for Fox, Peek
and Sophie Gibb, whilst the girls (Maisie
Brown, Emma Smith, Gussy Hydleman,
Antonia Garton-Sprenger and Pippa
Smith) staged their own private
competition across all three jumps, with
Cameron Smith happy to limit himself to
winning the triple jump. Mike Peek,
Blaine Tottle and Simon Le Gallais also
held a race within a race over 100m,
then assisted Mr Shaw in ordering a very
slow to arrive McDonald's Happy Meal -
to the despair of your correspondent.
On Sports Day, Carpenter won the Junior
Girls' competition, Meynell the
Intermediate and Senior, with Carpenter
winning overall. Bishop Fox won both the
Junior and 62 awards along with the
medley relay, Woodard won the
Intermediate and 61, and Tuckwell won
the 5th form competition, with Woodard
winning overall.
