A
fter a couple of early losses to
Sherborne and Millfield, the 2nds
hit a rich vein of form, beginning
with a convincing 111-run victory over
Bryanston. We scored 170 for 7, Taron
Ikram scoring 42 and Harry Parkin 39,
before dismissing Bryanston for 59 in 18
overs, the pick of the bowlers Henry
Breeze with four overs, two maidens and
five wickets for nine runs!
Our dominance continued at Queen's
when we restricted the opposition to 92 in
30 overs, Archie Watts the stand-out
bowler here with 2 for 20 off six overs. An
opening partnership of 83 between Taron
Ikram and George Retter was enough to
seal victory. Archie Watts starred again
against Blundell's with 4 for 11 off seven
overs, as they could manage only 139 all
out. Openers Harry Parkin (75) and Taron
Ikram (56) then batted superbly to knock
off the runs with all wickets standing.
After a narrow loss to a good Canford side
(despite Max Germain batting well for his
66), we got back to winning ways at
Taunton School, where we won by 134
runs thanks to excellent half-centuries
from Henry Robinson and Henry Breeze.
Archie Watts and John Hall then took
three wickets each, as we bowled them
out for 84. Against Monmouth, Henry
Robinson finished on 93 from 64 balls,
including hitting the first four balls of one
over for six. Chasing a mammoth 273,
Monmouth fell 192 runs short, with man
of the match Robinson chipping in with
four wickets!
And to finish, a confident and dominant
performance against Clifton saw us win
by seven wickets. Henry Breeze took
three wickets, but an outstanding display
in the field was capped by the most
spectacular catch from Archie Watts.
Henry Robinson got stuck in to the Clifton
bowling with another impressive display
of stroke making, while Max Germain
finished things off with some massive yet
seemingly effortless hitting in his innings
of 54 not out.
T
he 3rds too lost to Sherborne and
Millfield, but then good bowling by
Harvey Walsh and Harry Billing
meant Bryanston could only bring up
their 100 off the last ball of the innings.
In reply Will Murray hit an undefeated
half-century and Sven Witney scored
sensibly, before Paddy Cartwright came in
to finish things off in just the 10th over.
Blundell's was an extraordinary game of
cricket. In 20 overs, we scored 285, with
Will James smashing 119 not out, his
hundred coming off 32 balls. Hamish
Manger also scored 65, before Harvey
Walsh ripped through the Blundell's
batting line-up, taking five wickets for no
runs. Bing Torrance also took four wickets
for a rather more expensive six runs, as
Blundell's were bowled out for 11.
The excellent 107-run victory at Canford
was founded on Will Murray's 55 and
Tom Counsell's 46. In reply Canford were
bowled out, run out and out-fielded, and
could only reach 108 in the 19th over.
And it was victory by an even bigger
margin against Taunton School. Having
reached 303 for 4, we decided (in a
limited overs game) to declare the innings
closed. Will James scored 153 not out
from 51 balls, including 17 sixes, while
Tom Counsell scored 69 not out. Paddy
Cartwright and James Bentley took three
wickets each as we bowled them out for
133.

2nd XI
The 4ths were unbeaten! We
reached a mammoth 352 against
Sherborne thanks to a Gayle-esque
181 not out from Tom Powell, who
hit six sixes in one over and five in
another! That was the end of the
game really. A terrific all-round
bowling and fielding performance
restricted Millfield to 137, Ed Blowers
and Connor McKenna the stand-out
performers here. Sven Witney and
James Bentley batted comfortably,
and Tom Powell sealed victory with a
six in the 17th over to record a ninewicket
win. And we maintained our
100% record by amassing 306 for 9
against Canford, thanks largely to an
outstanding 107 from Patrick
Cartwright. Paddy went on to take
three wickets, as did Ed Blowers, and
we ran out winners by 33 runs.
