Implementation of a
Standardised Urinary Catheter
Pathway in Primary Care
This allowed the Team to develop a new Catheter Care Pathway which was tested and adapted
using quality improvement methodology. This has resulted in the development of a revised Catheter
Care Pathway (which is available to all staff on iconnect), a new training schedule Trustwide in
Primary Care and the revised Key Performance Indicator.
This work is ongoing and a Catheter Group has been established with Acute and Primary Care
representation to sustain and spread good practice.
